All CDS High School students are assigned to a House, a community of same grade level students and a House teacher. House is a place for students to meet with their House teachers and fellow House students each day and during a Long House period on Wednesdays. House serves as a smaller community within the school; as the students’ advocate and mentor, House teachers monitor their House students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being.
During the House sessions, attendance, announcements, and messages are delivered. In the Long House session on Wednesdays, Social and Emotional Lessons are delivered with discussions and activities to bring the House closer together as a group or to address issues and topics important to the school community.
Laboratory or "Lab" is another integral aspect of the Dalton Plan. It provides students with an opportunity for individual consultation with teachers or small group interaction with peers as they pursue course objectives. Students are encouraged to schedule appointments with their teachers to meet their individual learning needs. Lab can also be used to pursue independent study projects or extracurricular activities that pique students’ interest.
Cheongna Dalton School prides itself on the freedom it allows students to pursue their interests and hobbies at school. Any student can form a club at Cheongna Dalton School with the approval of the Assistant Director of High School. These clubs give students an opportunity to explore their passions and interests that fall outside of the school curriculum.
