Career Skills ~ Employability Certification (9-11): The essence of this course is preparing students to be successful in life now and upon graduation as they enter the workforce. Students will explore different career options of interest and create professional business documents such as a resume, cover letter, reference page, and digital e-folio. They will learn how to apply for a job and practice interviewing techniques. In addition, students will examine what it takes to be successful when beginning a new job and how to be a team player in today’s workforce. Not only will they learn about work, but we will also discuss success skills like managing money and how to use technology to their advantage. This is a course that aims to provide practical knowledge and skills that can be used immediately to succeed in today's society.
Computer Skills ~ Microsoft Office Certification (9-12): Impress your future employer or school by being a master in digital productivity! In this course, you will work to earn your Office Pro Certification through CompTIA, showing others you know how to use the world’s most popular productivity programs! We spend much of our time together learning Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint in preparation for the certification exam. However, we also explore additional applications like Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and others. If you are looking to become more proficient with your computer and are interested in becoming Microsoft Certified, this is the class for you!
Internet and Web Design (9-12): The Internet and Web Design course provides students the opportunity to be producers of the World Wide Web, rather than just consumers. In this course, students will learn foundational principles of computers, networks and website design and development. They will apply these concepts in a project-based learning environment, where they will create online experiences for personal applications and local businesses. Students will also learn basic web development coding languages, including HTML and CSS.
Introduction to Business (9-11): This course is an introduction to what a business is, how it operates, and how it is managed. A few of the topics that will be covered are the various types of businesses, the primary function of businesses, management techniques, and entrepreneurship. In addition, students will learn life skills as the world of business is explored. After this course, students will not only be better prepared for living in today’s society but will have a strong understanding of business and be prepared to take more advanced business courses.
