Class overview
Welcome to Journalism and Yearbook! In these classes, students will explore the fundamentals of news writing, photography, interviewing, and design. We’ll cover the principles of ethical journalism, learn how to tell compelling stories, and gain hands-on experience producing content for both print and digital platforms. Yearbook students will also take the lead in planning, designing, and publishing our school’s yearbook. These are creative, collaborative classes where every voice matters—and every story counts!
Don’t miss out on the memories! Order your copy of this year’s yearbook to relive the best moments of the school year—from sports and spirit days to clubs, candid photos, and senior highlights. About me
Hi! I’m Mya Nicholson. I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and I’m a proud graduate of the University of North Texas, where I earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Social Science. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a news reporter for TV and radio stations in Dallas, TX and Louisiana. During my time in the field, I interviewed a wide range of people, wrote scripts and articles, edited video and film, and reported news to large markets. I’m excited to bring my real-world experience into the classroom and can’t wait to learn and grow with you this year!
If you’re interested in supporting or contributing to the Yearbook and Journalism programs at Woodrow, I’d love to hear from you! Whether it’s sharing story ideas, donating resources, or getting involved in other ways, feel free to reach out to me at Mynicholson@Dallasisd.org — Let’s connect and talk about how we can be great together!
