At TL Marsalis Elementary STEAM Academy, each child engages in at least one weekly session of Music, Art, Library + Integrated STEM, and Physical Education. These courses share a common goal: PLAY! Through play, children first discover their identities and interests. By learning the specials' Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills through play, children gain a sense of their future as global citizens. They test potential tools and techniques and find new perspectives that sustain a lifetime of learning and growing.
Educating the Whole Child
The more parts of a child's brain we can engage, the more likely the material will be retained and truly internalized. Creating musical compositions, STEM projects, artistic explorations, and discovering the capabilities of the human body, in tandem with classroom education, nurture the multifaceted interests of the modern child.
