2022-2023 Teacher leadership cohort

Check out the testimonies below to get a glimpse of how powerful the TLC can be for YOU! Both educators were founding members of our inaugural cohort in 2019.

"Meeting with the TLC throughout the year has allowed me to collaborate with members of the Social Studies department and other Social Studies teachers while engaging in activities that reflect research-based strategies that I could immediately implement in my classroom. The meetings are fun and everyone is so nice and helpful - I always leave feeling recharged."

Katie Hairgrove - Dallas Environmental Science Academy

"My experience with the cohort has been invaluable. Not only have I met a great group of educators to collaborate with, I’ve been able to learn and apply new strategies to help my students better understand our content. This has been a great opportunity to improve my craft as a teacher."

Itzel Davis - Soto Elementary

Our Teacher Leadership Cohort aims to build capacity for excellent first instruction and all succeeding instruction, develop teachers with the ability to enable students to think critically and analyze as historians, and support campus leaders who can maintain the integrity of the Dallas ISD Social Studies department to advance the department mission and vision.

Texas Mock Trial Back to Back first place winner

Booker T. Washington High School won first place at the 43rd Annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition on Saturday, March 5, at a competition held in-person at the George Allen Courthouse. The win marks back-to-back championship titles for the team, as they also took home the win for the 2021 competition.

The competition included more than 20 high school teams from across the state, to argue a hypothetical civil court case written by local attorneys with the Dallas Bar Association. These teams, which have emerged as the best among their school districts and regions, were matched against one another, culminating in the final championship round on Saturday afternoon. The Booker T. Washington team will represent the State of Texas at the 2022 Virtual National High School Mock Trial Competition May 5-7.
