MRs. harbin's mighty eagles library

Hi Mighty Eagles,

My name is Mrs. Beverly Harbin. I am originally from Detroit, Michigan. I have taught in Dallas ISD for the last 38 years. I began my career at James Bowie Elementary school teaching 1st and 4th grade for 7 years. I taught 4th grade Social Studies and Math, Computers, and for the past 11 years I have been the Librarian/Media Specialist at Eladio R. Martinez Learning Center.

I love being a librarian because I believe in Reading. Reading can take you to faraway places, it will enlighten your mind and your spirit and guide you throughout your life. Being a librarian has helped me develop into a life-long learner. I can connect, interact and build lasting memories with people and books. Reading can bring you both pleasure and comfort as you engage in subjects that you enjoy. Reading can give you the power to be whatever you want to be, from a teacher to a doctor or even the President of the United States. There is always something new to learn when you read, and it can be just plain FUN!

what is the library?

A place to foster the love of reading of our Eagles by encouraging students to choose books that they are interested in, no matter the reading level.

A place to create a positive, welcoming environment for the learning community.

A place to serve as the connection to our students, faculty, parents and community for resources and technology.

A place to collaborate with teachers to enhance and support student learning.

A place to provide students the opportunities to read, image, innovate and create with Makerspace activities.

A place to empower students to become productive, critical thinkers that will motivate them to continue learning while becoming future ready citizens.

A place to have FUN READING!
