What is Reading?
"Reading" is the process of looking at a series of written symbols and getting meaning from them. When we read, we use our eyes to receive written symbols (letters, punctuation marks and spaces) and we use our brain to convert them into words, sentences and paragraphs that communicate something to us.

About me
Hello, my name is Mariano Chacon. I am a native of El Salvador aka "El Pulgarcito de America". My brave and lionhearted mother brought us to the United States in search of the American Dream when I was 7 years old. I am a product of Dallas ISD, Lorenzo de Zavala, Sidney Lanier, Benjamin Franklin, Health Special High School and a proud 1995 graduate of Government and Law Magnet. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in 1999 and my Masters in Bilingual Education in 2004 from Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas.
I have three children, Elsy (29), Luis (21), and Esmeralda (15). I also have two granddaughters, Izabella (1.5) and Ivanna (1 month) and two grand-furbabies, Rawkie (12) and Aze (3)!
I LLLOOOOVVVVEEEEEE teaching and learning! I believe all students will learn if we believe in them. Our "job" is to show them the way, pick them up when they fall, and push them forward when they stop believing in themselves.
My favorite grade as a student was 2nd grade and to teach is 5th grade. I love to read children's books as well as personal growth books. Need ideas??? Just ask...
