Do Your Part for Art - Spring 2024
Goals
Students will meet these goals in their explorations:
Become familiar with three artists and their styles
Use art vocabulary to describe and analyze works of art
Create works of art in various styles and in an original style
Develop the essential skills of logical thinking, creative problem solving, intellectual risk taking, and communicating
Ask questions and explore theories
Have opportunities to generate new ideas
Scholars created simulated stained glass, artistic fruit arrangements, and a bookpack that they tie dyed.
1st Grade
Stories & Telling Through Time & Cultures
Goals
Students will meet these goals in their explorations:
Examine stories over time and throughout cultures
Explore how stories explain the way folktales, fables, and legends reflect the beliefs, customs, language, and tradition of communities
Identify the elements of different types of stories and storytelling
Understand the meaning of well-known stories and make personal connections
Create their own fairy tales, tall tales, or legends
Practice telling their stories using storytelling techniques
Conduct research related to how stories have been used to explain events or how things came to be
Develop and organize a school-wide Storytelling Celebration to showcase their learning and original stories
Scholars selected characters and created a story with a beginning, middle, and ending. Stories were drawn in pictures, recited to the teacher, written in their books, and accompanied by pictures illustrating the text they had written. Artificial Intelligence was then used by taking the story written by the students and having AI develop an image to represent what had been said.
2nd Grade

Goals
Students will meet these goals in their explorations:
