BANDS

MARCHING BAND

The Adamson High School Leopard Marching Band is our biggest and most visible performing ensemble. The band performs at parades, pep rallies, football games, the UIL Region 20 Marching Contest, USBands, and other marching contests. The marching band provides students with the opportunities for the development of musical and leadership skills. Participation in the marching band is required for all band students, and attendance at all performances and rehearsals is graded.

WIND ENSEMBLE I

Wind Ensemble I is the Varsity concert band. This band consists of all woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Wind Ensemble I performs at concerts held on campus during the school year as well as the UIL Region 20 Concert and Sightreading Contest. Students in Wind Ensemble I are given the opportunity to improve their musicianship skills by refining high level music through high standards. Membership in Wind Ensemble I is by audition only. Students in this band are expected to set the example for integrity, professionalism, and performance for the Adamson band program. All sectional rehearsals and performances for Wind Ensemble I are required and graded.

WIND ENSEMBLE II

Wind Ensemble II is the Non-Varsity concert band. This band consists of all woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Wind Ensemble II performs at concerts held on campus during the school year as well as the UIL Region 20 Concert and Sightreading Contest. Students in Wind Ensemble II are given the opportunity to improve their musicianship skills by refining appropriate level music through high standards. Membership in Wind Ensemble II is by audition only. Students in this band are expected to follow the example for integrity, professionalism, and performance set by Wind Ensemble I. All sectional rehearsals and performances for Wind Ensemble II are required and graded.

JAZZ BAND

The Jazz Band performs at concerts held on campus during the school year, jazz festivals, and various performances held in the community. This band consists of Saxophones, Trombones, Trumpets, Drumset, Bass, and Piano. Students in the Jazz Band are given the opportunity to improve their musicianship skills by learning how to perform all styles of Swing, Funk, and Latin jazz. Membership in the Jazz Band is optional, however students in the band are held to the same standards as the rest of the bands in the program. Students in this band are expected to follow the example for integrity, professionalism, and performance set by Wind Ensemble I. All Jazz Band performances and rehearsals are required and graded.
