The Biltmore is a historic estate in Asheville, North Carolina, famous for America's Largest Home, a 250-room, 175,000-square-foot chateau built by George Vanderbilt. A French Renaissance-style mansion with 250 rooms, 65 fireplaces, and 35 bedrooms, designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt. Built by George Vanderbilt, the estate was completed in 1895 (It took 6 years to build). George Vanderbilt's daughter opened the house to the public in 1930 to boost tourism during the Depression.
