Current events:
Tanks are still doing great, ammonia levels are getting closer to zero every day, and nitrates are going up. As far as what is going in them, we will most likely be working with the lettuce nudibranch, Elysia crispata. My guess is that we will be getting tehse slugs during mid-May, since we need to determine the best culturing approach for the variety of macroalgae they eat.
Coming soon:
Upcoming meetings will discuss what techniques will be used to mass culture algae to feed our new model species. Once we have a solidified procedure, we will order the algae. Once the algae has grown a healthy amount we will order the slugs. This means unfortunately no slugs until mid-may most likely, but this is the best route to ensure we have enough food to feed our new friends.
