What Interpersonal Communication?

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with instruction on improving his/her knowledge and skills of nonverbal communication, oral communication and active listening while providing opportunities to work in small groups, speak before a group, and listen to others speak employing these skills and knowledge.

  • Please Note: Although this is not a theatre class, dramatic exercises and performances will at times be used to develop sophisticated voice work, movement, and gestures. Keep an open mind about such activities.

  • 90% of all communication is not written but spoken.

  • Public Speaking is the #1 Fear in adults…..Second is Death…..

  • You cannot, NOT COMMUNICATE

Mondays

  • Mandatory all class meetings through Zoom. Classes are 30 minutes in length. We will discuss the week ahead and the week's mandatory Zoom Meeting times.

Tuesday-Friday

  • Schedule is course team/teacher discretion as to how the time is used. This may take the form of scheduled individual student check-ins, small group discussions, independent study, full class meeting, etc. No matter what the time is scheduled for, teachers will be available to their students during the slotted times for their assigned periods through Zoom.

  • We will define how you will use the time and be readily available to students even if it is dedicated to independent study.

  • As a general expectation, classes will meet at least once Tuesday - Friday in addition to our weekly Monday meeting, however there can be exceptions as approved by the Division Heads.
