US Government is a semester long course that focuses on the question, “What is Effective Engagement?” This class primarily focuses on the 3 branches of the American government and current, American politics. There are 4 main units:
Units and essential questions for the semester:
Unit 1: The Political Spectrum
Essential Question: What is the balance between individual rights and the common good?
Unit 2: Elections
Essential Question: How does my vote count?
Unit 3: Legislating Change
Essential Question: Who has the power and why?
Unit 4: Democracy in Action
Essential Question: How can abuse of power by avoided?
