About Mrs. Vander Meer
My name is Renee VanderMeer and I have been teaching at Ludwig since 2004 having taught 4th, 5th, and Reading Support. My undergrad degree is from EIU, I have a Master's Degree in School Counseling and Reading.
I am an active Mom in the Lockport community with school-aged children that keep our family busy. Our favorite things to do include water sports, biking, bonfires, and reading in our hammock.
About Mrs. Matalas
Welcome ! My name is Callie Matalas and I have been teaching at Ludwig Elementary School since 2012. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Lewis University, and my Masters degree in Reading from Olivet Nazarene University.
My husband and I have two children. My son, Perry is in Junior High and my daughter, Ellie is in elementary-aged. We have a dog named, Piper that we adopted in 2022. My family and I love to be outdoors, traveling, going on spontaneous adventures, listening to music, and of course reading.
The focus in the Reading Cafe is on GROWING as learners and WORKING on our "Growth Mindset" because we know that each and every student can and will GROW their literacy skills.
