Bridges Unit 1
Emphasis on these first few weeks of school will be placed on the correct formation of numbers. Correct formation of numbers is vital. If a teacher (or the bank!) cannot read the number that you wrote, the results are not good!
Quizzes every Friday - 20 answers should be solved in one minute.
Although I highly encourage students to memorize facts, facts can be mastered either by memorization or strategies to find out answer. Your child is expected to be working at home to master these basic facts. A graph will be sent home the following week to show how your student improved from the beginning of the week to the end of the week.
Week of 8/20: +0, +1 facts (1+1, 2+1, etc. through 12+1). Quiz on 8/22.
Week of 8/25: +2 facts (1+2, 2+2, etc. through 12+2). Quiz on 8/29.
Week of 9/2: Doubles facts (1+1, 2+2, etc. through 12+12). Quiz on 9/5.
Week of 9/8: Make 10 facts (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5). Quiz on 9/12.
Week of 9/15: +3 facts (1+3, 2+3, etc. through 12+3). Quiz on 9/19.
Week of 9/22: +4 facts (1+4, 2+4, etc. through 12+4). Quiz on 9/26.
Week of 9/29: +5 facts (1+5, 2+5, etc. through 12+5). Quiz on 10/3.
Week of 10/6: +6 facts (1+6, 2+6, etc. through 12+6). Quiz on 10/10.
