Equity and Inclusion at Highland Middle School
Our aim is to foster the Highland Middle School environment so that students feel that they belong,
value multiple points of view, & celebrate each other's differences.
The Highland Middle School Equity & Inclusion Committee
During the 2020-2021 school year, a group of HMS Staff members began the important work of focusing on equity and inclusion at HMS. The committee's work will be ongoing. Our initial areas of focus include: Curriculum, The Highland Community, Policy & Practice, and Professional Development.
Work with the District 70 K-8 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to evaluate and enhance equity and diversity topics that are integrated into the curriculum.
Collaborate with all Highland Community stakeholders to develop a school environment that supports our committee's aim.
Examine our current practices and procedures at Highland Middle School to align with our committee's aim.
Develop and procure training opportunities for teaching staff at Highland Middle School that support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
