In district 64, your children are in good hands! Our Intervention programs are designed to identify students who may benefit from reading/writing and or math interventions. These interventions are research based and are delivered by highly trained teachers in small group settings. These interventions are provided in addition to their grade level reading curriculum.

About me

I began my career in Madison Wisconsin, where I was a cross categorical special education teacher. After a few years, I completed my Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities and my husband and I relocated to Park Ridge where I began teaching 4th/5th grade Instructional Resource at Carpenter School. This will be my 18th year teaching at Carpenter School! Wow, time flies! Eleven years ago, I decided to narrow my focus and jumped on an opportunity to be a reading specialist. I now have the opportunity to work with struggling readers in grades k-5 and I love it! As a mother of two school age boys, I understand the impact a student's school experience has on one's self esteem. It is my mission to ensure that every student I work with leaves my instruction feeling confident in their abilities as readers and in themselves! I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of your child's learning and I encourage you to communicate openly with me about any concerns or ideas you may have. I am looking forward to another great year!

Co-teaching

This year is my fifth year co-teaching with Mrs. Norman in 3rd grade reading and my second year co-teaching with Mrs. Fuller in 5th grade. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work together to meet the needs of all of our students. My partners and I both co-plan and co-deliver instruction during the 3rd grade and 5th grade reading blocks. Together we feel that by combining our expertise and reducing the student-to-teacher ratio we can provide an outstanding literacy experience for your children.
