I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Master's Degree from Western Michigan University. I have been working in District 64 since 2016. I enjoy working with students, families, and teachers to promote a positive school experience.
Occupational Therapy services are offered at all of the schools in District 64. These services are directed, most often, towards students with physical disabilities, developmental delays, visual or hearing impairments, neurological impairments or learning disabilities. School therapists evaluate, assess and develop accommodations to address the functional abilities of students within the classroom, hallways or specials areas. Therapists work with teachers to help students acquire functional abilities necessary to access their educational materials and to move about the school in a safe manner. Therapists may, also, work with students to modify or adapt their classroom materials / equipment so as to attain their greatest level of independence at school. Everything school therapists do within the school setting must be educationally relevant. All students who receive direct services from Occupational Therapy within District 64 must have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). For those students that do not have an IEP, Occupational Therapists are able to to offer more generalized suggestions to help a child function to the best of his ability.
