Welcome to Jefferson's Speech Language Program website. We are so happy you are here. We are working on making this a friendly and helpful way to communicate with our families. Our goal is to provide useful information and distribute fun ideas to help facilitate speech - language development at home. We have included some links to help you get started!!!

My name is Joanna Fernandez, I live in Park Ridge with my husband and two kids, Nathan is an 8th grader and Amelia is a 6th grader both at school. I received my bachelors degree in speech and hearing science from the University of Illinois Champaign - Urbana and my masters degree in speech - language pathology from Marquette University. This will be my 16th year working at Jefferson school. Helping our youngest learners find their voice has always been my passion. It is my mission to help all of our students at Jefferson communicate effectively at school, at home and in the community. This year I will be working in room 100 with Ms. Amy's class and in room 107 with Mrs. Holtz.

I will post pictures and updates on our SLP blog to share all the fun , amazing things we experience in our speech and language groups throughout the school year!

My name is Barbara Murphy but the kids call me “Ms. Murphy”. I have been in education for over 30 years. Although I have been practicing pediatric speech language pathology- for 24 years, I started out as an elementary education teacher. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, and Master’s degrees in Communication Disorders and Educational Leadership. I love working in District 64 because of the community of parents, teachers, and administrators but mostly because of the amazing KIDS. I enjoy helping them to communicate their ideas, thoughts and experiences. I have dedicated my adult professional life to helping children grow and learn.
