Heather Friese has been teaching in District 64 for 28 years!
She achieved her undergraduate education from Michigan State University, where she competed as a Spartan on the MSU waterski team. She also earned her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology from MSU. She earned her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University.
Mrs. Friese started teaching in District 64 at Roosevelt Elementary School as a 5th grade teacher, and taught at Roosevelt for the first 6 years of her teaching career. She then moved on to teach Physical Education and has been at Franklin, Washington, Carpenter, Field and Emerson schools as a PE teacher. She continues to enjoy teaching physical education and this year she is at Jefferson School on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays,
Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her family. She has 3 children, (2 boys and 1 girl), and 2 Brittany Spaniels - one named Briar and a new Brittany Spaniel puppy named Ranger. She plays tennis in her free time on 2 teams (doubles and singles). She enjoys golf and is a competitive waterskier who skied for Michigan State University while in college.
Her oldest son is a Senior at Carthage College and plays tennis on the doubles and singles teams.
Her middle son is a Sophmore at LA College of Music where he is studying guitar performance. He lives in California and plays guitar for 3 different bands.
Her daughter is a Senior in high school and is very busy. She plays on the Varsity Badminton team. She is a french horn player and also plays Mellophone in the LHS marching band where she is a section leader. She will be attending the University of Nebraska next year and will auditon for the marching band. Go Big Red!
Her dog, Briar, is an avid pheasant hunter and enjoys chasing all animals in her backyard when not sleeping in her bean bag!
