About Me

My name is Amy Rooney and I am in my 7th year of teaching Early Childhood education. I grew up in Oak Brook, Il and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education in 2012. I also completed my English Second Language endorsement from National Louis University. My first three years of teaching were in District 204, where I was a self- contained special education teacher. I specialized in teaching students with verbal delays and Autism. In 2016, I was hired at Jefferson School, District 64, as a blended preschool teacher. I am going into my 4th year at Jefferson and love the community and program provided! I strive to create a structured, fun, creative, student-driven, and family inclusive classroom environment!

I currently live in Wicker Park, Chicago and outside of teaching I enjoy yoga, art fairs, the Chicago Cub/Bulls/Bears/Blackhawks and Notre Dame games. You can spot me at whole foods, starbucks, tealula, and Shakou! I enjoy going to my family's lake house in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan hiking, snowmobiling, fishing, exploring!

Loved sports from a young age!
