Hello and welcome to our classroom website. My name is Shelli Mata and I am excited to be your child's 2nd grade teacher! This is my seventh year in District 64, I started at Roosevelt School in 3rd grade, then came to Carpenter for 1st grade, and now this is my fifth year teaching 2nd grade.

I received an undergraduate degree in Business Management from Northern Illinois University and a Masters in Recreation Administration from Aurora University. After working in the field of Parks & Recreation, I chose to follow my passion for education and went to Northeastern Illinois University to receive my Teaching Certificate. I am currently pursuing a second masters degree from the University of Illinois in Educational Administration and Leadership, Principal Preparation.

A little more about me, my husband also teaches in the district, he's been a PE teacher at Field School for the last 11 years. I look forward to having a collaborative relationship with you as we work together to make this year a great success!
