"In education, research has shown that teaching quality and school leadership are the most important factors in raising student achievement. For teachers and school and district leaders to be as effective as possible, they continually expand their knowledge and skills to implement the best educational practices. Educators learn to help students learn at the highest levels." - Hayes Mizell for Learning Forward
In District 62, educators have a variety of professional development opportunities including Institute Days, PLC Mondays, U62 (in person and on demand), and team PLC time. We believe that effective professional development allows teachers to learn and collaborate with one another in an effort to maximize student learning.
U62 is a way for teachers to choose the professional development they'd like to participate in, as well as earn clock hours toward lane changes and recertification. Previous professional development topics include: Academic Vocabulary, Balanced Literacy, Planning Instruction, Standards Based Grading, Tyler Student Information System, and the Writing Instructional Model. U62 offerings are both in-person as well as on-demand; click the logo to find a full list of offerings!
