Read Aloud

Author Sonia Levitin takes readers to Germany 1938 when terrible things begin to happen. More and more restrictions for Jews lead her family to make decisions that include hardships none of them could have imagined.

Writing

The 5th Grade has started the Literary Essay unit. This is a type of writing students will be doing throughout their academic lives. Reading texts, and responding with our opinions based on text evidence is the goal.

MAth

5M Math just completed Chapter 9, where we worked on converting decimals in metric units. Our next unit will be Chapter 14 Surface Area & Volume.

READING

Unit 6 takes us to the Wild West. Non-fiction texts explain the time period and the communities that were built in the 1800's. We'll develop our comprehension skills by comparing and contrasting texts.
