About My Teacher

Oh hey, first grade!  I am so happy you will be joining me in room 104!  Here are a few facts about me:

I was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago.  My family and I moved to Mount Prospect 3 years ago.  This is my eighth year teaching (my fourth year here at Westbrook).  I taught kindergarten for three years at the Frances Xavier Warde School, an independent Catholic School, in downtown Chicago.  And I taught third grade for Chicago Public Schools.

I have a 12-year-old son, named Charles, in 7th grade at Lincoln, and an 9-year-old son, named Emil, in 3rd grade at Lion’s Park.  I also have a 2-year-old mini-Sheepadoddle named Sal (short for Salamander.  Emil named him 🤷🏽‍♀️).  My favorite color is every shade of pink.  I love gym shoes, big earrings, big hair, food, dancing, being silly and spending time with my family and friends.

Being silly and dancing is the essence of who I am.  In me, you will see that it is okay to be exactly who you are.  I love being able to model how to fail and succeed, how to treat and help others, and how to always try and go above and beyond.

I teach because I aspire to be the teacher I want for my own children.  Maya Angelo said "People will never forget how you made them feel."  I want children to feel just how powerful and important they are.
