Spelling
SCHOOL YEAR 2020 - 2021 --- Please note that I will not use Individualized Spelling Lists this school year due to remote learning. I will use spelling lists coordinated with the Reach for Reaching curriculum.
Individualized spelling lists offer students voice when determining which spelling words need to be mastered. Students develop their leadership role by looking through curricular material and picking words they may find difficult to spell and words they feel would enrich their writing. Spelling lists are created each week. By the fourth week, students are assessed on mastery of any repeatedly misspelled words on the previous three weeks. Carry-over each week ensures students persevere when learning new and challenging words. Students should practice their spelling words at home either by using spelling patterns/phonics or through memorization. Please use the resource below to assist home practice with your child's spelling list each week.
