In April, the SOAR class visited Color Me Mine in Glenview for a fun leisure activity. Though we didn't have the picnic weather we were hoping for, it was still a successful trip!

On Community Based Instruction trip on 3/23/23, we visited Wright Way Rescue and donated some supplies to this wonderful organization. Can't complain when we're surrounded by puppies!
This week we read about the new Sea World in Abu Dhabi, the biggest aquarium in the world! For cooking class we made "Under the Sea Snacks".
Our February CBI was a hit! We had a pizza party at Dominos and bowled the day away at River Rand Bowl.
Our program was featured on the front page of the Daily Herald!
We were so excited to spread the word about our classroom business and hope to inspire others to adopt similar programs in their schools.

Students were excited to get to work in our classroom business. After 2 days of training, our SOARBucks employees had a successful grand reopening! We served staff coffee, tea, and hot chocolate while practicing job skills and money management skills. Way to go!
After reading the book, Stargirl, Ms. Luce's ELA class created book report projects to recap the novel.
In October we practiced playing the Ukulele in Music Class.
A class favorite! We always look forward to cooking on Thursdays. So far in October we made veggie wraps, totchos, and guacamole!

Giving thanks to all the Lincoln Staff. We made a "home cooked" meal for all our lovely teachers and staff. The meal included turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and delicious pies!

Another big highlight of the SOAR school year is our trip to Camp Sunrise! This year we beat the rain and had a blast with tie dye, archery, the traverse wall, music, paddle boats, and of course a delicious campfire lunch of hot dogs and s'mores.Â
We were overwhelmed by the amount of love an support from our Lincoln Family leading up to this exciting event! Special Olympics is truly a highlight of the school year. Go D57!!!
We have so much to celebrate this month!
We voted on potential activities for our trip to Sunrise Camp. Our top 5 activities were; Archery, Paddle Boats, Bottle Rockets, Fishing, and Tie Dye (bring a shirt!).
In SOAR we celebrated 2 birthdays! Marcos turned 13 and Mr. Miehlke turned 30!
Finally, we tallied up the guesses and found out if Ms. Luce is having a girl or a boy. Ask your student what color we saw in the cupcakes!
In April, we took the Metra Train from Mount Prospect to Downtown Park Ridge.
Then, we had lunch at Five Guys just before the rain came. ALL ABOARD!!!
After reading the story, "When Sophie Gets Angry --- Really Really Angry" with Ms. Walsh, we practiced sorting good choices and poor choices when we are feeling angry,
In March, we gave back to those in need by bringing supplies to Wright Way Rescue. There we enjoyed meeting some furry friends and learning about this amazing facility.
Our Valentines celebration was a hit!

We had so much fun on our community based outing. On this wintery day we had a great time indoors. The teachers were very impressed of all our strikes and spares! We ended our field trip with some cheesy pizza.
1/16/19: Today during our weekly visit to the LRC, Ms. Walsh taught us about Martin Luther King Jr. We read about why he was an important person and that he helped people learn that we should treat everyone fairly. This is why we celebrate him!

Noodles in the News 10/4/18
This week we learned about Newspapers and how they share information about the world around us. To wrap up National Newspaper Week we made a cheesy noodle dish called "Noodles in the News". It was a hit with everyone!
