All About Mrs. Commare

An Interview with Mrs. Commare

What is your job at Fairview School?

I am a 2nd grade teacher and LOVING it.

How long have you been a 2nd grade teacher?

This is my 14th year teaching 2nd grade. I taught 5th grade for one year and 4th grade for one year. Although I did learn a lot about teaching while teaching the other grades, I am so excited to be back in 2nd grade!! It is truly my home. I am lucky to do what I love to do...every.single.day.

How long have you been at Fairview?

I have been at Fairview for 16 years years now. Holy cow how time flies!

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Actually, I decided to become a teacher when I was in 1st grade at St. Alphonsus in Prospect Heights, IL. I played school with my friends every single day that we could. My first grade teacher was so kind, helpful, fair, fun, and creative. I idolized her, and I wanted to be just like her. I am so happy I stuck with my childhood dream to become a teacher. :)

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

In my spare time I enjoy smiling and laughing with our 6 year old daughter and 17 month old son, running, writing stories, reading, gardening our backyard, decorating our house, walking around Woodfield Mall, going to WHITE SOX games, walking with the family to get Slurpees, playing with my parents’ 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier named Max, talking with my friends, watching and quoting movies with Mr. Commare and bike riding. Yeah...that sure is a lot of things to do in my spare time, but I seem to get all of those in some time during the school year! =)
