1st Quarter: We are beginning to explore matter around us and liquids, solids, and gases. Students will be conducting experiments testing the states of matter.
1st Quarter: Students have learned about shapes in geometry. We have learned about quadrilaterals. Students are using rows and columns that make up rectangles. We will soon begin our unit on addition and subtraction.
1st Quarter: Students are writing small moment narrative stories in writing. They are working to become writers understanding the writing process and making their writing interesting to their reader. In reading, students are learning 2nd grade reading strategies to become stronger readers.
1st Quarter: We are beginning our new phonics curriculum! We are starting off by welcoming our new phonics learner Gus to our class. He is a stuffed dragon who will be joining our class to learn along with us.
This fall, 2nd graders will be jumping into their first PBL or Problem Based Learning. They will be solving a real world problem that is happening right now in our school community. Students will be participating in solving this problem, learning from experts in the field, and will even be participating in field experience. At the beginning of the school year, 2nd graders worked on cleaning up our school garden. They worked to pull weeds and clean up our garden beds to beautify our garden area. We are planning to begin planting fall crops soon!
