Please understand, school based small groups and individual counseling services are not a substitute for community based mental health services. A school counselor focuses on supporting students’ academic and social success in the school setting. I am happy to provide referrals to community based services on request. 

Confidentiality Statement

School counselors recognize their primary obligation for confidentiality is to the student but balance that obligation with an understanding of the family or guardians’ legal and inherent rights to be the guiding voice in their children’s lives (ASCA Code of Ethics). 

However, circumstances do arise where we must disclose information to appropriate professionals. Reasons for breaking confidentiality are but not limited to: a student is in danger of harming themselves, another individual, or if a student is in danger of being harmed by others.
