  1. What can I do to get my student prepared for middle school?

      1. Get your student a combination lock to practice on during the summer.

      2. Work/keep basic skills going. Math facts, reading, and writing skills.

      3. Practice getting up earlier about two weeks before the school year starts. Getting their internal clock reset is very important. Helping reassure them that they will be okay and things are going to be fine. Their teachers and all of the staff will work to make sure they have a smooth and easy transition.

  2. How is it best to get in touch with my teacher?

      1. The best way to get a hold of your teacher is by email. They do have phone numbers, but the quickest way to get a response is by email. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.

  3. How is middle school different from elementary school?

      1. Your student will be adjusting to multiple classes taught by various teachers with different personalities.

  4. When will I know what core and what classes my student will be in?

      1. Schedules will be handed out when students come to Back to School Night and again on the first day of school. It’s important to work through the schedule and not change classes.

  5. When will my student choose their exploratory classes, especially music?

        1. Your student should have already put in for their exploratory when the school counselors came to your school. If they signed up for a band or orchestra exploratory, look for an email or letter from one of those teachers.

  6. What time does school start and end?

      1. The bell rings at 7:55 a.m. for students to line up. Breakfast is served starting at 7:30 a.m. each morning. The school day ends at 3:15 p.m.

  7. When is lunch? And can I have lunch with my student?

        1. Lunch is determined by the master schedule and will be determined when your student gets their schedule during Back to School Night/first day of class.

  8. What should be done if my student is being bullied?

      1. The first thing your student needs to do is advocate for themselves and tell a staff member or administrator at school. If we do not know, we cannot do anything about it. Encourage your student to reach out to an adult in the building first.

      2. Next, parents please call the office so we can deal with the situation. Please avoid the use of social media because it often makes the situation worse.

  9. What supplies will my student need for next year?

      1. There will be a supply list on the school website at the end of summer and in many of the retail stores around the valley. Please try to have the supplies ready and bring them on the first day of school. This will help teachers be ready so they can get straight to teaching your child all the wonderful things they have for them.
