Welcome! My name is Ms. Cameron and I am the school counselor at Chatfield Elementary. This is my 8th year working alongside this amazing team of educators, students, and families!
Generally, I work with students in three areas:
(1) Teaching classroom lessons (K-5th)
(2) Leading different small groups
(3) Counseling individual students
This means that every child interacts with the school counselor at some level throughout the year. I also spend time collaborating with teachers and families, supporting students experiencing difficult emotions, modeling conflict-resolution skills, responding to unexpected crises, and connecting families with local resources. Overall, I will help your child have a great school year in any way I can!
If you are interested in your child participating in group or individual counseling, please complete the Counseling Request Form.
Counseling sessions in a school setting are typically short-term and focus on student-led objectives that help your child reach their academic goals, such as building confident peer relations and/or practicing healthy coping strategies. School counselors do not provide in-depth therapy, so if you feel your child needs more mental health services, I will gladly assist you with available resources here in our community. You can also check the Community Resources tab on this web page for more info.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
I look forward to getting to know you and your student better!
