Regular attendance, grading practices, and report cards
The instruction for students in special programming (cross-categorical, multi-needs, STARS, etc.) may look different based on individual student needs.
With the exception of individuals with medical exemption letters, face coverings will be required for all staff, students, and all visitors while in District buildings.
Student spacing may be reduced to 3 feet in classrooms and hallways.
Increased school wide cleaning and disinfecting
Students will be permitted to remove face coverings during lunch with a minimum of 6 feet social distancing required.
Transportation will be provided to all students who qualify.

In-person students will attend five half-days per week. Remote learners will be in remote only classes that will include a mix of synchronous and asynchronous learning. Livestreaming will not be routinely used at the early childhood level.

Teachers will instruct their in-person students and their remote students at the same time for the full day of school.
Remote Learners
The students’ Chromebooks provide a window into their physical classroom space, allowing for ongoing interaction between home and school.
Remote learners will log into their class at the start of each school day through Zoom or Google Meet.
Remote learners will be away from their device for lunch and breaks, along with independent work time that will be scheduled throughout the day to support core instruction.
Remote learners may join smaller breakout rooms throughout the day with in-person students, other remote students, and/or the teacher, providing various means of instruction.
Remote learners will have the ability to unmute and engage with their teacher and peers during whole group and small group activities as coordinated by the teacher.
Classrooms are equipped with a microphone and speaker to ensure that students at home can hear the instructions and interactions in the physical classroom.
Remote learners will also participate in special area classes (art, music, & physical education) through livestreaming/concurrent instruction.

In-person learners will spend time both on and off of their device during the school day. In some instances, in-person learners may log into Zoom or Google Meet to work in groups with other in-person and/or remote learners.
In-person students will be away from their device for lunch and breaks, along with independent work time that will be scheduled throughout the day to support core instruction.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the District’s COVID-19 dashboard. It should be noted, however, that the DCHD data published on the dashboard represents the official public release of DCHD metrics and is 2 weeks behind. The Northwestern metrics, referenced above, are updated weekly on the D45 COVID-19 Dashboard.
