ESL/ELL Teacher

Hello students & parents! I am the ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher for Hiawatha. I work with ELL (English Language Learners) students in small groups each day. We work on reading and writing strategies, vocabulary, spelling, math and any other topics that support their learning.

Educational Background

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a K-9 certification and minors in Social Science and Spanish. I received my ESL certification and Master’s degree in literacy education with an emphasis in bilingual/ESL from Northern Illinois University.

I have taught junior high & high school social studies for 1 year and ESL for 15 years. This is my 6th year teaching ESL at Hiawatha. I have enjoyed working with the awesome staff and students at Hiawatha.

Personal Background

I grew up in Savanna, IL, right next to the Mississippi River. I love the area of Savanna and try to visit when I can. I live in Genoa with my husband Mike and my two sons, Harrison & Liam. I have 2 cats, Patches & Vinnie. Both of my cats are really big! During the weekends and my free time, I can be seen with my family. We like going out to places and having fun! My boys especially like going to Wisconsin Dells. Water parks are their favorite!
