Our high school started its robotics program in the 2023–2024 school year with two VEX V5 teams. Our first challenge involved building robots that could move triangle-shaped balls about the size of a kid’s basketball. We started with no experience and had to learn by designing, testing, and improving our robots over and over. Despite being new, we managed to win one or two awards, which was a great start for our first time.
In the 2024–2025 season, called High Stakes, our program grew to four teams. This year’s game involved picking up and placing plastic rings on posts. With more team members and better teamwork, our program got bigger and more successful.
Out of our four teams 1413C, 1413D, 1413S, and 1413E three out of our four teams won important awards, including tournament wins and judged honors. One team even won a championship and went to state. All teams were noticed for teamwork, great scores and strong performance, and we became regulars on the leaderboard alongside more experienced teams eager to do better each time.
