What is the Student Worker Program?
Location: St. Charles North High School Auditorium
Position Type: Part-Time, As-Needed
Pay: Hourly ($15.00)
Student Auditorium Technicians work alongside fellow students and the Auditorium Manager to support the operations of the school’s auditorium. This hands-on role includes:
Setup, and breakdown of stage equipment, chairs, risers, and other auditorium related equipment.
Operating lights, sound, and other technical elements for school and community events.
Cleaning and maintaining auditorium spaces and equipment.
Assisting with a wide range of technical theater tasks as directed by the Auditorium Manager.

Work Schedule
Shifts are assigned during the following:
After School
During the Summer
Weekends (Occasionally)
You’ll be notified of upcoming events in advance and sign up for shifts based on your availability.
This will be communicated to Student Staff in Monthly staff meetings and on a shared Google Calendar with all upcoming events.
This position is as-needed; work hours will vary and are not guaranteed weekly.
Employees will never exceed 30 hours per week.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must:
Have at least 70 hours of previous technical theater experience, including roles such as:
Running lights/sound for school productions
Working in the scene shop, costume shop, or front of house
Supporting other technical aspects of productions
Class time does not count toward these 70 hours
Outside experience may be considered with documentation
Have participated in at least one major production in the St. Charles North Auditorium.
Show a strong working knowledge of technical theater and a willingness to learn new skills.
Be able to take direction, work well with a team, and maintain a positive, reliable work ethic.
Must be in good academic standing
If under the age of 16, complete a parent work permit form (available in the main office) as required by Illinois state law.
Steps of the Application Process
Submit your letter of interest to the Auditorium Manager Mr. Echales (drew.echales@d303.org) along with a summary of your prior technical theater experience, including hours worked and productions involved.
An in-person interview will be scheduled with Mr. Echales where you will be asked the following:
Speak about your prior technical work experience
What interests you about the position
What you hope to gain from being a Student Auditorium Technician
Other real-world interview-type questions
At a later date, Mr. Echales will send out notices of employment statuses to each student who participated in an interview.
Please note: All former student auditorium technicians employed by St. Charles North High School will need to reapply for the position if interested in employment during the 2025-2026 school year.
Please note: Not all students who interview for the position will be hired.
