Bullying and harassment are always concerned with the perspective of the victim, not the perpetrator. In other words, "it was a joke" is not a valid excuse for poor choices and behavior.

Attendance Policy

We generally look at absences in the following ways:

  • Unavoidable absences (excused)

    • Illness

    • Family emergencies

    • Religious obligations

  • Avoidable and relatively avoidable. These absences can range from relatively inconsequential to significantly impactful and will be dealt with individually.

    • Academics: getting help or making up assignments is important, but can often be done outside of practice.

    • Clubs and work

    • Family and athlete choices: vacations, birthday parties, concerts, etc.

    • Injured athletes are expected to be at practice every day to rehab and support the team.

Avoidable and relatively avoidable absences will result in consequences. Generally speaking, these consequences will be loss of playing time.

Generally speaking, missing practice will reduce playing time. Missing games generally leads to a consequence of missing equal numbers of games.

Please communicate with the coaches. When you are sick, send an email to Coach Harrington.

Please email Coach Harrington when you have an upcoming planned absence.

DOCTORS- when athletes go to a doctor for an injury, it is important to ALWAYS get a note releasing the athlete to play or specifying limitations and time lines.

Communication

For routine communications, please email coaches with detailed information in addition to speaking with them. This helps the coaching staff to not lose track of details.

We expect athletes to communicate with coaches. Except for extreme situations, first contact should be from the athletes. If concerns continue beyond coach-athlete communication, then parents may contact the coach. If further conversation is called for, the chain of communication goes to Coach Poulin, then to the athletic director.

Generally speaking, conversations will not take place on game days- there is often too much emotion for us to have a quality and productive conversation.

Team Travel

We travel as a team. Special circumstances will be considered with advanced notice.

"More convenient" is not a special circumstance.

Transportation waiver here.

Other notes

  • Most games are played A followed by B. The time for the B is a suggestion- usually it is ten to fifteen minutes after the A game is completed. We do not have solid A and B team rosters. Whoever does not play in the A game, will play in the B game. This allows us to have fluidity in the line up. Athletes always have the opportunity to move up if they earn it. The exception to this is tournament games that often overlap A and B. In these cases we set the A and B team rosters to promote the most playing time for athletes that have earned the most.

  • Early is on time. The bus will not wait for late athletes.

  • Practice will end on time +/- 5 minutes. We rarely have the gym available for extra shooting, etc. Please plan your pick up time between 5 and 10 minutes after practice ends.

  • Video games? Let us know!

  • Pictures? Send to Coach Harrington to use on the website.
