General Information

MORNING BAND REHEARSALS

Students participate in full band rehearsals before school from 8:00-8:50AM once per week.  Families are responsible for transporting band members to the rehearsal site.  Students should bring their instrument and music book to rehearsal.  These rehearsals are an important and mandatory part of the band program.

SMALL GROUP LESSONS

Students have a 40-minute lesson each week during the school day. Lessons give directors time to work more closely with each student to improve fundamentals and music literacy skills.  Lessons will always be on the same day of the week, but times will rotate so that students don't miss the same instructional content each week.  Lesson schedules will be passed out to students in mid-August.

CONCERTS

Traditionally, concerts are performed twice per year in December and May.  Band students have other opportunities to perform in school such as assemblies and performing the National Anthem at a Kane County Cougars game.

INSTRUMENTS

Students need an instrument in good playing condition with the appropriate accessories (like reeds or valve oil).  To rent an instrument, contact Quinlan & Fabish at www.qandf.com or 800-63-SOUSA.  You can see rental prices for instruments HERE.  If your family qualifies for free/reduced lunch, you also qualify for reduced instrument rentals through the District.  Contact your band director for more information.

DISTRICT PARTICIPATION FEE

There is a $40 activity fee that is paid to the District via PushCoin in the fall.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Students will also require the method book Accent on Achievement and a folding music stand.  These items can be obtained from Quinlan & Fabish as well.
