5Essentials – 2024-25 school year
When
The 5Essentials is scheduled to open February 18, 2025 and close on March 28, 2025.
Who takes the survey?
All fourth- through 12th-grade students participate in the 5Essentials Student Survey. All prekindergarten through 12th-grade certified teachers and staff who are responsible for teaching and/or the the development of students take the 5Essentials Teacher Survey.
How long will the survey take?
The survey takes participants about 20 minutes to complete. In almost all cases, the survey is completed in less than 30 minutes.
Is there a way for parents to participate in the survey?
Yes. As part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey process, schools will have the opportunity to hear from their parent community. Schools are not required to facilitate the implementation of the parent survey supplement and results will only be reported to schools and school districts (i.e., the results will not be featured on the State School Report Card). Please note that the original research-based 5Essentials system is comprised of the student and teacher survey components. Participation in the parent supplement is welcome as this survey offering is explored and refined.
Parents are encouraged to complete one survey for each child, even if they attend the same school.
