4. If you make the team…
Attend every practice
Tell your coach if you don’t feel well.
5. Expectations for practices
You must have your hair tied back during games and practices so that it is out of your face.
School dress code applies during extracurricular activities.
Attendance Policy
This is a serious commitment. You are expected to be at every practice and every game. If you cannot make that commitment, then perhaps you should not try out.
As a team, we can only be successful if we have prepared together AS A TEAM. For this reason, student-athletes should attend every practice! It is simply not enough to know your team’s offense or defense. You must practice TOGETHER in order to get better.
Athletes should never have an unexcused absence during the season. Unexcused absences may result in loss of playing time and/or possible removal from the team.
Absences will be considered unexcused if:
It is a reason that does not warrant a missed practice and/or game, e.g. haircut, social gathering, etc.
It is the result of having to serve a detention, ISS, or OSS. Your behavior at school should not
impact your commitment to the team.
If you do not inform your coach of pre-existing commitments.
It is left to the discretion of the coach whether or not an absence is considered unexcused.
If you are absent the day before a game, you may lose the privilege of starting in that game.
You must fully participate in PE during the school day in order to participate in any game or practice after school.
If excused from participation with a doctor’s note or parent’s note, you must still be at practice.
You must be at school for at least half of a school day in order to participate in a practice or game.
Games
Games will start at 4:35 and will usually end around 6:35 p.m.
Notify your coach as early as possible (even a week before!) when you can’t be at a game. Your absence causes major problems with line-ups. It can cause a “domino effect” that may require the coach to take someone out of another position to replace you and someone out of another position to replace her, and so on and so forth.
At AWAY games, you may only leave with YOUR parents after they have signed you out, unless you have a signed parent note on file with your coach to go home with another specified person.
Eligibility
Eligibility reports come out each Monday and go into effect for the entire following week. At that time, any students who are not passing at least five classes are ineligible to compete in any of the next week’s games.
If an athlete is ineligible twice during the season, the coach will call the athlete’s parents to discuss potential removal from the team. Removal from the team is left to the discretion of the coaches and administration.
