The DMS guitar club is led by 8th grade teacher Mr. Blomquist, but is open to all grades. You don’t need your own guitar to attend, you can borrow one from him, but those who do have a guitar are perfectly free to bring it. They meet about twice a month in the orchestra room, starting at 8:00 am and ending at 8:45. Sessions usually start with warming up, then sharing different stories of how different people got their guitars (if you bring your own), after that Mr. Blomquist will teach students something they might not have known, like different notes or chords. Finally, the session ends after a bit more experimentation on the guitars. Just about everyone enjoys being in the club, finding it fun and relaxing. Join Guitar Club!
Board Game Club is a group of people who meet up to play board games, just like it sounds. Students meet Mr. Schamrowski in the IMC every Tuesday after school from 3:40-5:15PM. They have plenty of games such as Clue, Trivia Pursuit, Battleship, Uno, and Chameleon to name a few! It is great to go to if you want to play some classic board games with some cool people. Hope to see you in the next session!
The SSA, or Safe Space for All club is available for all to join! It takes place Thursdays after school until 4:30. The club’s mission is to provide a safe and welcoming space, discuss topics relating to gender identity and expression, create greater awareness about issues of the LGBTQ community, and create a school where all students feel welcome (Noble Schools). Sessions usually consist of activities, chatting, and sometimes even snacks. The club’s name is very fitting, a safe space for all to be themselves and feel welcome. Everyone is free and welcome to join. If any of these things sound fun to you, you should consider joining the Safe Space for All club today!
The glow party was after school on February 20th, all grade levels were welcome. A great time was had by all! In the cafeteria there was a "chill" area where you could hang out and buy snacks like cotton candy and pizza. In the aux gym, you could get a henna tattoo and enjoy the inflatable b-ball and axe throwing activities. However, all the action was happening in the main gym, where a dark light was shining and the glowing was happening. A DJ played music and students hung out and danced. This SUPER FUN event happens every year! Hope to see you there next year!
At the pokemon club you come and trade, battle and can do anything related to Pokemon. Mr. Forrest hosts it. In the middle of the club meeting he has a bucket full of HIS Pokemon, he will let you grab one if you can put another one in there from your deck. Come and play, have fun and trade!
The College Fair was March 4th and there were so many different colleges that students were presenting. AVID students worked hard for a month to prepare their presentations. It was a great success and everyone had a great day.
The Orchestra was on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The 6th grade played the Vibes of Visby, Les Matadors, and lastly Impulse. Our 7th graders played Sky Suit, Shepherd’s Hey, and Koythu Pattu. Our 8th graders played a Mystery piece, Kilimanjaro, and lastly they ended our night with a Scottish ballad. Along with each grade's song a couple of people from each grade would team up and create wonderful speeches that told our audience what the songs mean or what they originate from..
The Musical is going great. We are doing the Wizard of Oz. We have all the classics: Dorothy and Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Wicked Witch, all of your favorites. We hope you already purchased your tickets, if not, you still can. When we perform, get ready for funny scenes like an apple thrown at a Dorothy and scary scenes with the Wizard of Oz. Get ready to meet us at ECC to have a blast, break a leg performers.
The phrase "break a leg" is not a curse from the Wizard of Oz or Wicked Witch, it means good luck to the performers.
Tickets are now on sale for Wizard of Oz. In years past, staff has not had luck purchasing tickets on their school issued laptop, so I suggest you use a phone or personal computer if you are interested in purchasing. Tickets sell quickly, so get them while you can! (We opened the tickets for families last Wednesday and we are already almost halfway sold out!) Here is the Cast List.
Shows are April 23-25 at ECC from 7:30 - about 9:15. Thursday, April 23 will be the day that musical students will be gone from school for the school day show. Let me know if you have any questions!
The 6th grade Cheerleaders are having a blast cheering for the basketball games. The 8th grade coaches teach us all of our moves and Mrs Wagenaar makes sure we are stylish, safe, supporting the team. The cheerleaders cheer on the teams at the intramural basketball games. At timeouts the cheerleaders do stunts and tricks and during halftime they do cheers. Cheerleaders with experience do more stunts and sometimes they get to be thrown in the air! Check them out at their final games on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Intramural basketball is hosted by Mr. Haase and Mr. Godfrey. They created teams of 6th graders with a Captain for each team. Everyday the teams practice shooting, passing or doing plays. Every other week, specified teams play each other after school in the main gym. Parents, friends, and neighbors, come out and watch the games on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Help the cheerleaders cheer us on!
