MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Cardunal Families,

We're officially in the home stretch and quarter 4 is already 2 weeks in! There have been some very exciting things going on since our last newsletter. Our AVID teachers and students put on a great college fair event early in March. The music department put on multiple incredible performances by our students in Jazz, Orchestra, Band and Choir. Our intramural sports were in full swing as we completed both badminton and basketball. The Robotics team competed in the State Competition and will be recognized at the April 21st board meeting.

Big shout out to Lawrence Kilvington and Tenley Dyer for receiving the Illinois Principal's Association Leadership award. These students were selected by their teachers based on their leadership skills here at DMS. Both students and their families will attend an awards banquet in April.

Congratulations to our District Spelling Bee Winners. We had a clean sweep at all three grade levels.

Quentin also was the semi final county spelling bee champion!

As our new quarter begins we look forward to our track and field season starting. We are looking to complete our last round of iReady testing as well on April 28th and 30th. This will mark the end of standardized testing for year. We thank all of our staff and students for doing such a great job with these assessments.

We will have an in person Book Fair on Monday April 13th through Friday April 17th. Here's a link to host site that will show you what to expect to see in person.

We thank all of the families that have made it out for the "Together for Tomorrow Community Workshops". Our next workshop will be on Monday May 4th at 6 PM at Hampshire Middle School. We hope to see you there. As part of this initiative, DMS will be hosting an Open House on April 16th starting at 5:30 PM and ending at 7:30 PM. This will be a time for families and community members to tour the facilities and view the building conditions firsthand.

Sincerely,

Leo LaBrie
