All Hallow's Eve

It was a cold, damp night like all others in October. Flowers were wilting, the moon was shining, and it was a chilling night outside, just perfect for Halloween. Two twins, Jack and Tommy Johnson, were out trick or treating. It was pretty barren for a holiday, but Jack and Tommy just thought that it was more candy for them.

It was about 6:50 when they passed the Torrence house. And because of the time, it was pretty empty on the streets since most kids were at parties with their friends and the parents resting at home. Their parents had warned them not to go trick or treating on Wall Street, but they did it anyway because they were told that the candy given out there was awesome. Why their parents didn’t want them there? Well, Mr. Torrence had previously committed kidnapping and torture, but his ransom was paid by an ally. What he did was horrific. But anyways, they passed the house thinking that they were fine. They couldn’t have been any more wrong.

“Why would Mom and Dad want us to not even walk on a street because of a street? I mean, we're not going to be suddenly killed or something,” explained Jack. “But the danger is still there,” replied Tommy. “I know, I know.” Jack said mockingly. As they passed the house, they noticed that it looked abandoned, the lawn a forest, and the infrastructure looking like it had seen better days. While they walked, Tommy couldn’t help but to have a sinking feeling in his gut. It wasn’t of fear, but of something else. He didn’t tell Jack because he knew he would make him look like a wimp in a worn down vampire costume. “Hey Jack, my bucket is full, and…well, we could go home now” Tommy said anxiously. “You might be right for once. Whatever. Let’s walk back.” Jack said, disappointed.

This time when they walked past the Torrence house, Tommy’s spidey-senses went haywire. He was quivering, and Jack noticed. “What’s wrong, bro? Asked Jack. “I don’t know, but let's just walk faster,” Tommy choked. Little did they know, by walking past the Torrence house alone, they had just been targeted, and there was nothing that they could do about it. They didn’t have phones yet, or any communication with their parents or the authorities. What happened next would shake the entire neighborhood and news for a long time. As they were a block away from the Torrence house, Tommy noticed that there was someone walking behind them. Tommy noticed first, telling Jack immediately. They then began to run away. The man was following them fast, and they both knew that it wouldn’t be long before he caught up. As they passed the block, they saw a person that they knew well, Bruce, a coworker of their dad. He babysat them and looked after them for their entire lives, and he had a close bond with their family. He was trimming his hedges. They yelled for him, but he had headphones on and was facing the opposite direction. But by then, the man had caught up to them and grabbed them, holding them by the mouths and in a way where they couldn’t escape. Two twin nine-year-olds versus a big and strong jailbird. He dragged them away, and they were never seen again.

Their parents first noticed them not being home in the morning since they might have had a sleepover. And when they started to suspect something, they immediately called the cops. A full investigation was issued on finding the twins. They first started with the block that they were last suspected to be at. They checked every house, and then eventually getting to the Torrence house. And as you may have guessed, he was nowhere to be seen. That made the cops have a pretty good idea what happened. They got more people over, including one of the best detectives in the state, which happened to be a local resident of the town. After investigating the house, they found candy and candy buckets on the floor, and with checking the fingerprints and who gave them the candy, it clearly showed that it was theirs. And when they went into the basement, what they saw gave them a way too detailed explanation of what happened. Right after they found this they pronounced the twins deceased, and a new investigation was put into place, one for finding Mr. Torrence. The investigation went on for four months, but it was clear that the man knew what he was doing. The man was never sent to jail because he was never caught.

A big funeral was set in place for the twins on December 14, and the parents went all out using the money saved for college for the two, which was a lot since the paycheck of the parents combined was a pretty hefty amount. But the entire town mourned this, and the news spreading throughout the U.S. like a wildfire. This became a very sensitive topic for people forever because when one officer was taking pictures for evidence in the basement of the house, someone had somehow gotten access to it and posted it on the internet. Not many people copied the pictures and reposted them out of respect for the family, but for the ones who did, they made it possible, with a lot of digging required, to be found. The parents for the twins had no idea how this happened, but some people are trying to delete these pictures.
