Dear Colleagues,
The Network Refresh for our building will begin THIS Friday, December 9 at 5PM, which includes fast more abundant Wi-Fi for all! Yay! At last!
The work will begin and will be completed this weekend. The work to move the network to the new equipment that is being installed over the weekend will occur between 5PM on Friday December 9 and 6PM on Sunday, December 11, 2022. While the addition of more Wi-Fi bandwidth to the site will be the most visible change, there is a lot of work happening that will not be as apparent to you during your daily routine.
New network equipment means new IP addresses for all devices - including computers, printers and copiers. This will require all devices on the network to receive a new address once the upgrade is complete. In order for this transition to be as smooth as possible, we are asking that you shut down your computer (and any computers/printers around you) prior to leaving the office for the day on Friday December 9. This will require that you first log out, then press “ctrl+alt+del” again and then click the power icon on the lower right hand of your screen and select “Shut down”. I would also ask that the last person to leave each room/office turn off any printers in your area and shut down the computers of your colleagues who may not be in the office on Friday.
Important: Staff should also disconnect any unapproved Wi-Fi access points you may have plugged into the network. Not only do these devices disrupt the network as a whole, they will no longer be needed after the upgrade!
Since the work will begin on Friday evening, all users will need to log off of their workstations and shutdown before 5PM on Friday. Once the work begins, there will be no network connectivity or internet access at 30-48 Linden Place building. As usual, the building will remain open, but you will not be able to use your computer after 5PM.
What: Network Refresh including the addition of Wi-Fi
Where: 30-48 Linden Place – Entire building
When: Friday December 9 at 5pm to Sunday, December 11th, 2022 at 6pm
Impact: No Internet access or connectivity during the work period
Action Required by all Users: Log off from workstations by 5PM. Shutdown all computers and printers at the end of your workday.
When you return to work on Monday you should go about your routine as you normally would. Information about how to request help, should you have any difficulties on Monday morning.
If you know of anyone in your office who does not get distribution list emails please share this information with them… and make sure they get ADDED to the building directory!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns. I will remind everyone again later this week as we approach Friday.
Hi all –
I hope you are doing well and enjoying this first day of November. Please share this email with your co-workers and if they want to receive my email directly, ADD them to the building directory here.
I have been asked to remind building staff of the entry protocol for all when entering the building at the main entrance. As you know, the Health Screening is no longer required for building entry.
All persons entering the building at the main entrance must show photo ID to the security agent on duty, every time.
This includes building staff, visiting DOE employees and visitors from the public.
Visitors (DOE staff and from the public) must sign-in on arrival to the main entrance.
Visitors from the public must also show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in alignment with the 2022-2023 NYCDOE Visitor Policy.
I understand that showing your photo ID can slow entry down, especially in the mornings, but this is for everyone’s safety and to support the security agent on duty who may not be familiar with all of us. They are required to check ID for all who enter. So get ready each morning to show your ID when entering the building and have it handy when you run out for a break or for lunch.
If you have any questions or concerns about this please reply and let me know. Thank you for your support on this important matter.

The DOE is embarking on a year-long, system-wide Central Inventory Project (CIP) to ensure that the DOE is complying with City, State, and Federal inventory guidelines to account for all purchased and donated devices. This project will help schools, central sites, and field offices build an accurate record of all devices and establish a standardized approach to managing their device inventory information going forward.
We will start at 30-48 Linden Place on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Your building inventory team is led by Ali Yusufzai, ayusufzai@schools.nyc.gov, mobile: 408 752-1535.
