Colt Nero enters his 3rd season as head coach of the Stagg Chargers Football Program. Nero is a 2012 graduate from Crystal Lake South High School where he played football & basketball for the Gators. Nero went on to play college football at Minnesota State University where he was part of a 4-time Conference Championship Team and a National Runner-Up Team. Before becoming a Charger, Nero taught Special Education and coached football, basketball, and strength and track at McHenry High School for 3 years.
Eric Elget enters his 4th year on staff for the Stagg Charger football program. Elget comes from Andrew High School where he played football and baseball all four years. Elget attended Illinois State University and majored in Math. Before Elget joined the Chargers staff he coached at Brother Rice from 2014 - 2019 where he coached both football and baseball for 4 years. Elget currently coaches football and softball for the Chargers while also teaching Math.
Tom Lally enters his 6th year on staff for the Stagg Charger Football Program. Lally comes from De La Salle Insitute (Chicago). Lally went to Prarie State College & Central Michigan University on a baseball scholarship. Lally played Baseball, Football, Basketball, Track, and Wrestling. Lally's coaching began at Sandburg High School where he coached football for 3 years, and Baseball for 1 year. He also coached at Lincoln-Way East for 1 year. Lally made the transition to Stagg and has coached Football for 5 years, Basketball for 6 years, and Softball for 6 years. Lally is currently teaching Physical & Driver Education. Lally's favorite food is Pizza and he also enjoys watching Last Man Standing.
Adam Zmuda enters his 18th year on staff for the Charger football program. Zmuda went to Andrew High School where he was a part of the scholastic bowl and model united nations club. Zmuda went on to get his bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University. Zmuda enters his 20th year of coaching and has been a part of many different teams. Zmuda teaches AP Government and AP World history at Stagg High School.
Jarrell Smith enters his 2nd year on staff for the Charger football program. Smith graduated from Mather High School and went on to play college football at Concordia of Chicago, North Central College, and Northern Illinois University. Smith enjoys hanging out with his wife, and watching football.
Jacob O’Connor enters his 3rd year on staff for the Charger football program. O’Connor a graduate of Victor J. Andrew High School played football, basketball, and baseball for the Thunderbolts. O’Connor went on to play football at St. Ambrose University for the ‘Fighting Bees’. O’Connor majored in Exercise Science as well as Human Performance and Fitness. O’Connor also earned his master's in Exercise Physiology from St. Ambrose University. O’Connor currently coaches football and baseball at Stagg High School. O’Connor is teaching physical education and health and enjoys working out and hanging out with his girlfriend.
Chris Wendelin enters his 8th year on staff for the Charger football program. Wendelin went to Limestone Community High School in Bartonville, IL. During High School, Wendelin played football, basketball, and baseball. Wendelin went to Bradley University for his undergraduate and University of Illinois at Chicago for his Masters. Wendelin has coached football and basketball at Stagg High School. Wendelin enjoys hanging out with his family and watching Chicago Bears games.
Michael McMahon enters his 3rd year on staff for the Chargers football program. McMahon went to Lockport High School where he was a part of the wrestling team. McMahon went on to attend the University of Illinois where he received his bachelor's in Physical Education and Drivers Ed. McMahon coaches JV Wrestling at Andrew High School and is currently the Head Freshman coach at Stagg High School. McMahon is teaching PE and drivers education.
