Sophomore Paper

This paper will assess your ability to 1.) reflect on your progress in Physical Education and 2.) to set fitness goals for your future. You will write an essay applying important fitness facts and concepts you have learned to your own physical needs, interests, and goals. This essay has three parts:


PART 1: FITNESS PROFILE PARAGRAPH

What is your current level of fitness? Include evidence from your experiences and your Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) fitness scores to support your observations. Include information for the following topics:


  • Fitness scores
  • Activity levels
  • Attitudes towards and interests in different activities
  • Injuries and/or setbacks (problems)
  • Medical problems and hereditary concerns (medical problems that your family has)
  • Other relevant areas of change


PART 2: EVALUATION PARAGRAPH

Based off of your fitness profile, what are your fitness strengths and weaknesses?


PARTS 3-7: GOALS (4 PARAGRAPHS + CALENDAR)

Set goals to maintain and improve your fitness strengths and weaknesses.

  • PARAGRAPH: What goals do you have to keep and improve your fitness? Address both the strengths and weaknesses you listed in your evaluation.
  • PARAGRAPH: What workouts will you plan to use to achieve these goals? Provide an explanation for these choices. Discuss the frequency (how often), duration (how long), and intensity (how difficult) of the activities you will use.
  • CALENDAR: Create a sample weekly workout plan. Consider how you will adjust for injuries, medical problems, and safety concerns.
  • PARAGRAPH: How will you keep yourself motivated to accomplish your plan?
  • PARAGRAPH: Why is keeping a healthy lifestyle is important?


PAPER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, standard margins
  • Minimum 2 pages
  • Standard written English
  • Literacy Center (extra credit)
