Graduation Regalia Guidelines:
While each school will have its own personality and traditions for the graduation ceremony, D214 has established a standard for what all graduates will wear:
Standard Regalia: All schools will ensure students wear the designated gown, stole, cap, and tassel in school colors
Special Recognition:
No special tassels or pins
Academic recognitions (i.e. NHS, Seal of Biliteracy, etc) will be designated in the program
Standardized Honor Cords: Academic honor cords will be standardized across all schools as follows:
Honors (GPA 3.00 - 3.79): White Cord
High Honors (GPA 3.80-4.19): Gold Cord
Highest Honors (GPA 4.20 or higher): Red Cord
Medallions: School-approved academic medallions (e.g., ELITE, IHSA, Senior Award Winners) are permitted during graduation ceremonies.
Cultural and Religious Adornments: Students may wear appropriate cultural and religious symbols. These items must be worn on the outside of the gown and should not compromise the overall uniform appearance of the academic dress.
Cap Decoration: Decorated graduation caps are permitted for the ceremony, provided the designs are appropriate and respectful.
