What is Knights Block?

Knights Block provides time for students to access important support systems and resources during specified time rather than missing an academic class to do these things.

Freshman Knights Block

During Freshman Knights Block, students will work with Senior Link Crew Leaders, staff and gain strategies and experiences in high school that will take place in a homebase at Grayslake North. Students can request academic support, teacher check in and more during this time-slot and will have free time to relax and reset for classes.

Sophomore Knights Block

During Sophomore Knights Block, students will work with Senior Link Crew Leaders, staff and gain strategies and experiences in high school that will take place in a homebase at Grayslake North. Students can request academic support, teacher check in and more during this time-slot and will have free time to relax and reset for classes.

During Junior Knights Block, students will work with Senior & Junior Link Crew Leaders, staff and have access to college & career planning, outside North opportunites and more that will take place in a HOME BASE at Grayslake North. Students can request academic support, teacher check in and more during this time-slot and will have free time to relax and reset for classes.

SeniOR KNights Block

During Senior Knights Block, students will work with Senior & Junior Link Crew Leaders, staff and have access to college & career planning, outside North opportunities and more that will take place in a HOME BASE at Grayslake North. Students can request academic support, teacher check in and more during this time-slot and will have free time to relax and reset for classes.

  • Once or twice a month we will have mandatory programing that will be student led in students homebase classroom that will touch on the following:

    • Social Emotional Curriculum

    • College / Career Planning Information

    • Grade level specific presentations

  • Where can students go and What can students do on non-homebase days ?

    • Cafe, HUB, Courtyard, soft furniture throughout the building.

    • Students may NOT go to PE or into any other classroom.

    • Students can study, enjoy down time, seek academic help as needed

    • Take care of bookstore needs or random office visits

    • Students will settle in one place and refrain from wandering. Volume outside the cafeteria should be quiet or silent as designated by signage.

    • Take advantage of non-mandatory activities which will be offered occasionally.

  • Can students leave the building during Knights Block?

    • AFTER mandatory Knights Block programing has concluded

    • Off campus option approval - parent fills out google form - sophomore, junior seniors only.

    • In good academic standing and maintaining 90% attendance

    • Please note, Knights block is students' time to take care of “errands” so if a student needs academic help or to see your counselor they would do that prior to leaving or coming late.
