Family, Career and Community Leaders of America

FCCLA members compete in Child Development, Fashion, Interior Design, Culinary and Entrepreneurial events at the sectional, state, and national levels. Students develop projects to showcase their knowledge and skills within Family & Consumer Sciences related courses to compete against high schools nationwide. FCCLA members make a difference in their in their individual, family, and community lives by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through FCS education.

FCCLA members will compete at the sectional level at Harper college in February. State and National competitions will depend on your qualification at the events prior!

STAR Events

Nationally recognized competitive events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) designed to help members develop lifetime skills in character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation. Events include, but are not limited to: Career Investigation, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Ambassador, Focus on Children, Illustrated Talk, Interpersonal Communication, Job Interview, Interior Design, Leadership, Life Event Planning, Nutrition and Wellness, Recycle & Redesign, and Advocacy.

State recognized competitive events designed to showcase member skills and knowledge in a variety of areas within Family & Consumer Sciences. Events include, but are not limited to: Preschool Lesson, Personal Child Care Provider, Children's Literature, International Experience, Technology in Fashion Design, Professional Career Image, Interior Design, Fashion Apparel Display, Apparel Construction, Pastry Arts Frosted Cakes, Pastry Arts Fondant Cakes, Pastry Arts Cookie, Food Production Salad, and Food Production Relish Tray.
