What Won’t You Be Able To Do As an Adult?
By Galilee Araujo - March 3, 2022
As people go through life and grow up, things they used to do when they were younger are done less or not at all. While I sat in the back of the car one day, looking out of the window and enjoying my music, I began to think about what life would be like as an adult. Would I be able to enjoy being a passenger as often as I do now? Would this carefree feeling of not worrying about where I’m going because I don’t have to drive last into the future?
In an interest to hear about what others think they won’t be able to do as adults, I decided to interview a few Wauconda High School students and asked them, “What is something you do now which you don’t think you’ll be able to do as an adult?” There have been many times when I’ve heard others say they, “miss the good old days”, and wish they knew to enjoy and appreciate them a lot more. So, aside from curiosity, the intention of this question was to incite a deeper awareness that things teenagers enjoy now might not last as they grow up.
As I interviewed the four students I found that the main things on these student’s minds revolved around being limited by the responsibilities of the future rather than focusing on the lack of time to do those things.
